This scholarship was established in 2011 by IASP and friends and family of Philip A. Spiegel, a young medical researcher and IASP member who died in 2010. He suffered from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and was planning to enter medical school to study pain management. The trainee awarded this scholarship receives free registration, hotel, and travel expenses to attend the World Congress on Pain.
